<p>In our immature sense of spiritual things, let us say of the beauties of the sensuous universe: “I love your promise; and shall know, some time, the spiritual reality and substance of form, light, and color, of what I now through you discern dimly; and knowing this, I shall be satisfied.
When Mary Baker Eddy ordained the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures to preach to Christian Science congregations, she reassuringly wrote to her Church, “Your dual and impersonal pastor, the Bible, and ‘Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures,’ is with you; and the Life these give, the Truth they illustrate, the Love they demonstrate, is the great Shepherd that feedeth my flock, and leadeth them ‘beside the still waters’ ”.
One December, when I was serving as First Reader in my local branch Church of Christ, Scientist, I decided to incorporate Christmas-related hymns, Bible passages, and citations from Mary Baker Eddy’s Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures into the Wednesday testimony meetings throughout the month.
