Strengthening ideas

[“Finding hope in the face of betrayal,” July 9 Sentinel audio chat with Ginny Luedeman]

After listening to this chat three times already, I know I’ll be coming back again! What strengthening and encouraging ideas you’ve offered on relationships, body, and government. The sharing of your personal experiences represents a tender release on your own part that is sure to bless many. I loved the helpful study ideas, the four R’s, your honesty, the tears shed, and the call to be “tough” in meeting life’s challenges with the truth of God’s ever-presence. With much appreciation and love!

Important lessons

I am one of the six children referred to in the testimony “No longer depressed” (Georgia W. Dearborn, Sentinel, July 1, 2013). As a teenager, I had never witnessed severe depression before. I found the situation with my Grandmother very frustrating. I couldn’t understand why she had become extremely negative about every aspect of life. Her healing was dramatic and complete. Her love of Christian Science returned as did the patients calling her as a Christian Science practitioner.

There is an interesting postlude to this experience. One day my grandmother asked a church member about her husband, whom she hadn’t seen in church lately. The woman broke down and said that her husband was going through a period of severe depression and she was at the end of her rope. She said she didn’t know what to do. My grandmother was quick to respond with “I know exactly what to do. We are going to heal this.” Christian Science treatment was given and the healing was quick and complete.

Throughout the difficulty, we continued to see my grandmother as we had always known her. The healing taught me many important lessons about treating mental problems. When she returned to her practice, she became a powerhouse of healing activity. For this experience, I am very grateful.

Active and not complacent

What a beautiful article in the June 24 Sentinel by Patrick M. Collins, “The Moldau and the Dead Sea.” Thank you so much for reminding me to be active like the Moldau and not complacent and unproductive like the Dead Sea.

Having been recently on the Moldau and the Dead Sea, I can relate to it, and I will never forget the beauty of the Moldau and the contrast of the Dead Sea.

What an inspiration! Thank you.
