Reviewing only good
A couple of years ago, I had an experience that convinced me of God’s healing presence. The two-story house I lived in was charming and quite old. Coming down the steep wooden stairway one day, carrying a canister vacuum, I slipped and fell to the bottom, landing in a tangled mess.
Prior to this, I had begun my day as I usually do, with prayer and affirmation of my identity as God’s child. However, I was anxious about a family situation and had been mulling this over, rather than praying about it until I felt at peace.
Lying at the bottom of the stairs quietly for a few moments, a scene from the British film Shirley Valentine came to my thought, where the main character, Shirley, talks to the wall to get up her courage to move forward with her life. In that next moment, I knew I had to gather up my courage. Since I was facing the wall, I affirmed aloud right then that I was free from the fear that I could be seriously damaged. I noticed that my wrists felt uncomfortable, but I continued to declare that absolute Truth, the healing power of God, was effective right now, right here.
