Praying with the ideas
I have loved praying with ideas in the Sentinel of September 9, “Progress for every student,” which to me encapsulates the ideas of progress instead of doom that will bless Syria. The first article [Gayle Weber] shows how seeing good and letting it grow in students results in development and fulfillment.
On page 9, Randy Dearborn says, “No external event [can] stand in the way of God’s promise of universal good for everyone” [“Suitable employment”].
Good is universal and is always appearing in different ways. It cannot be limited to a certain time, nation, religion, or place. It is unconfined and cannot be predetermined!
This power of good is going on everywhere, unselfishly embracing everything in its purpose, naturally rejecting everything unlike itself. As the Sentinel brings out, unselfish ambition, self-examination, and honesty, lived by all, will bring harmony and peace to the world. Thank you for shining this light on today’s events!

Pets and healing
[“Healing and the family pet,” Kaye Cover, September 9, 2013, Sentinel]
Thank you for this lovely testimony. I’m very grateful to hear about your pets and their healings. I see every creature as an expression of Mind, as you so beautifully demonstrated.

Gardening and spiritual thoughts
[“Gardening lessons,” Susan Lapointe, September 2, 2013, Sentinel]
Thank you, Susan, for sharing your thoughts. I, too, love to garden and am reminded of so many spiritual thoughts as I work. It is such fun as I work to focus on the boundless lessons divine Love has to teach us. Root out all evil, pull out the little ones as soon as they appear; every expression is complete, and God takes care of every detail. Happy gardening.

Praying daily
I so very much appreciated the article “My prayers for Syria” by Anne Melville in the September 2 Sentinel. It’s been immensely helpful in guiding my own prayers for that country and that part of the world. I was struck by this statement: “The belief that a group of people is deprived of God, is mental malpractice, wrong thinking.” Since I’ve read that, I’m consciously working daily to know that everyone is worthy of and already lives under God’s loving care.
As the article pointed out, the right kind of praying lifts the weight of helplessness that we sometimes feel because an issue seems so large and angry. I’ve certainly found this to be true. Thank you so much, Anne, for sharing your unfoldment with us.
