Freed from chronic knee and hip trouble
Over a period of two years, I fell several times, repeatedly injuring my left knee. Each time, the pain was severe, but I was able to overcome it through prayer and walk normally. Then one day the knee started hurting again, and I developed a limp that grew progressively worse over three months until I feared I might not be walking much longer.
At church, my friends continued to see my true selfhood, whole and free as God created me. However, co-workers at my part-time job and family members who were not Christian Scientists expressed concern for me and suggested I needed to take care of this problem medically. To reassure them, I explained that I was relying on God to heal me, as He always had in the past. They seemed to accept this, as most of them had a strong faith in God.
The Christian Science practitioner who was praying with me helped me feel assured that we were on the right path to healing. During one conversation, he stated with such conviction, “You are not material; you are spiritual.”
