Siblings listen for God's voice
My healing involves an experience I had as a member of our city’s Children’s Choir. I am usually a second soprano, but each year participants are asked to stretch themselves by doing a different part in one piece, within our set of songs. I decided I would try the first soprano part in one of the pieces of The Nutcracker. There was one point where I had to reach a high A note and I could only reach a G. I worked and worked on this. I tried practicing alone and I tried with my voice teacher, but I just wasn’t hitting it.
Performance time came, and I was tempted to not even attempt the note, but then the thought came to me—“Try it.” I felt that somehow I would be able to hit the note. As we were singing, getting closer to the part I was worried about, I thought to myself, “I will just pull back before my voice cracks.”
What I learned from this experience is never to say never and to have more faith in God.
