'I forgave the llama...'
I know we’ve all heard a lot of healings about being kicked off a mountain by a llama, but here’s one more.
I was on vacation with my husband and our twins, who were nine years old at the time. We were hiking in the beautiful mountains outside of Taos, New Mexico, and were planning an overnight camping trip. We had a slightly eccentric guide with us and four curmudgeonly llamas, who were there to carry our supplies. Mine was particularly fractious. We were only about 30 minutes into our four-hour hike when my llama suddenly kicked me with both of his back feet, knocking me off balance and off the trail down some ten feet. I was able to get up, but one of my ankles and feet had been injured in the fall.
As a student of Christian Science, it was automatic for me to immediately declare, “I’m all right!” even though I felt shaken up and in pain. It was automatic because I’d seen so many proofs of God’s immediate care throughout my life. Mary Baker Eddy writes in Science and Health: “When an accident happens, you think or exclaim, ‘I am hurt!’ Your thought is more powerful than your words, more powerful than the accident itself, to make the injury real.
