Two significant healings
About two years ago, I had a healing of a growth on my forehead. It started out as what appeared to be a mole and then became larger and made me feel self-conscious. I could have had this growth removed through surgery, but it didn’t seem like the answer to me since I was seeking a permanent solution and I wished to work this out through Christian Science and scientific prayer.
I prayed with more than one Christian Science practitioner, at different times, and am so grateful for the support that was given each time I called for help. I resisted the temptation to look at the growth, but it was difficult because it was so “right in my face.”
In my prayers, I began to affirm as much as possible the fact that I was a spiritual idea and was not matter-based. I pondered this statement from Unity of Good by Mary Baker Eddy, “Sooner or later the whole human race will learn that, in proportion as the spotless selfhood of God is understood, human nature will be renovated, and man will receive a higher selfhood, derived from God, and the redemption of mortals from sin, sickness, and death be established on everlasting foundations” (p. 6).
