Knee pain healed
A few years ago I experienced a healing in Christian Science that really impressed upon me the absolute assurance we have through Scripture that God heals all our ills.
In the winter of 2008, I was a few months away from beginning the Army Chaplain Officer Basic Course that I had to complete before becoming an Army Chaplain. I knew the training would involve a lot of running and that I’d be tested on my physical fitness upon arrival. I’d never been a runner, so I began going out along the Charles River in Boston to practice.
A few weeks into this routine, just before a run, I felt a pop in one of my knees followed by severe pain. I was barely able to make it home and up the stairs to my apartment. Then I did what I had always done when I needed healing. I turned to prayer as taught in Christian Science, fully expecting to be healed. Our Master, Christ Jesus, tells us to “know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32). I knew this instruction was an effective means of healing. I prayed with a number of Scriptural truths, including what Paul teaches about the nature of our being when he says, “I was free born” (Acts 22:28). Through the Bible and Christian Science we can understand that we are free from all material limitations because we are made in the image and likeness of God, Spirit (see Gen. 1:26, 27). There is no room for mortality in spirituality.
