Fears during pregnancy overcome
My husband and I had recently relocated to a new state, and I had just started a new job, when I found out I was pregnant with our first child. I decided to call a family friend, who was a Christian Science practitioner, to pray with me throughout my pregnancy. She stressed that it would be beneficial for me to gain a good understanding of the fact that with God’s plan, all is in perfect balance—there is never too much or too little of anything, but all is just right and in harmony.
In obedience to the state laws, I visited a doctor once a month for the remaining months of my pregnancy. I was apprehensive about going to a doctor, as I had never been to one before. I’d always relied on prayer in Christian Science as my means of health care, and had many healings as a result. I was so grateful to learn that the doctor I found was familiar with Christian Science and enjoyed working with Christian Science patients.
During the first few visits, she expressed concern that I had low amounts of iron in my blood. The practitioner and I prayed to know that God supplied the baby and me with all that is necessary for proper development and progress. I knew that both my life and my baby’s life were reflections/direct outcomes of divine Life, God, and that God was the law of our being. Subsequent blood tests indicated all was well, and low iron amounts were never mentioned again.
