Invitation to the dance
Meet an international journalist, world traveler, ballet critic, election observer, and devoted parent.
When did you last meet someone who’s come face to face with Maoist terrorists in Nepal; got lost in the Australian bush for eight hours; danced among the penguins in Antarctica; and been an election observer in the wilds of Macedonia?
Those are just some of the experiences of Margaret Willis, a member of the Christian Science Society in Wimbledon, whom I first met on the touchline on a rain-soaked rugby field near Richmond Park in Surrey, England. With her late husband, David Willis (then London bureau chief of The Christian Science Monitor), she was watching their son, Alastair, play a tough game under dismal conditions.
Since then, as we’ve flown to and fro across the Atlantic, we’ve kept in touch, focusing recently on Margaret’s professional writing.
