How do you talk about Christian Science?

NATALIE ZDAN

I used to have a huge issue talking about Christian Science. But I became more vocal about it when I started going to my friend's church youth group, because I started feeling like people were trying to convert me and I had to stand up for my faith. It was really stressful at first, but then outside of the youth group I started talking with this friend about Christian Science. It wasn't supposed to be like a pressure thing; she was just sincerely interested in what I believed, and we started having great discussions.

I was able to go back to the youth group and realized that even if some people were trying to convert me, they were doing it because they were sincerely interested in my being "saved." Once I was able to tell them lovingly that I already felt like I'd found my salvation, the environment there just felt better. I felt a lot more comfortable. And really ever since then, I've been a lot more open to discussing Christian Science.
