DENTAL HEALTH RESTORED

Even as a young woman I appeared to have poor dental health. Over the years, gum disease and loss of teeth due to bone loss seemed to be my fate, according to my dentist's predictions. I often prayed about this state of affairs, and grew in my understanding of Christian Science and my commitment to church, but I did not find healing.

One day, I went to the dentist for a check-up, and she told me that bone loss would continue, advising a bone scan to see if I was losing bone elsewhere than in the mouth. I then told her I was a Christian Scientist and was used to looking to spiritual help for my health.

I decided not to have a bone scan, but I felt I had thrown down the gauntlet, and now I had to find healing. This dentist was very thorough, capable, and confident of her prognosis, so the next day I found myself having to handle a lot of fear. I prayed with the 23rd Psalm until I lost the fear. I found that Love refreshed my thought (and body) with new and true views of divine goodness and love. I could "lie down," or rest in the knowledge that God was all my being, the being of all for everyone. I included the dentist in this atmosphere where Love provides understanding and peace for all.
