WILLING TO BE TAUGHT

Willingness. It's one of the most important characteristics any student can have. A kind of teachability that's fertile ground for ongoing learning.

In this week's Sentinel, we take a look at Christian Science class instruction—an activity that affords a unique opportunity to put all other pursuits aside and make spiritual growth and listening to God, with the goal of learning to heal, the focus.

First, three teachers of Christian Science emphasize the role inspiration plays in class instruction. And they answer some frequently asked questions, such as "Why take a class when I can study on my own?" And "What kinds of questions will be covered?" The group goes on to discuss the value of prayer in letting the details fall into place, and not leaning heavily on others' opinions or recommendations when applying. It's very much an individual decision that comes as a result of God's revealed guidance.
