COLD SYMPTOMS GONE

One day a number of years ago, I developed a bad cold with all the usual symptoms. Seeing my discomfort, my husband asked, "Why don't you do something about your cold?" I replied that I was trying to pray about it through Christian Science. I was used to turning to Christian Science for healing, and I spent the day praying diligently, although the symptoms still persisted.

As I prayed, I opened my thought to divine direction, trusting that God would supply me with spiritual ideas that would bring healing. I knew that prayer would reveal the truth about my health and thereby uncover any impediments to clear spiritual thinking—since I reflected purity and honesty as a child of God.

The next day there was still no improvement. I sat down with my copies of the Bible and Science and Health and read the weekly Christian Science Bible Lesson. I also looked up references in the Bible and Mary Baker Eddy's writings, searching for a spiritual idea that would lift my thought. Then it occurred to me to look up the word cold in the dictionary. One of the definitions that caught my eye was "unkind, indifferent, unloving."
