PAIN AND GRIEF GONE

Sometime in the fall of 2009, I started to feel a little distant from God. I also began to have shoulder aches and pains. As an active person, who plays tennis weekly, I felt the pain in my arm and limited shoulder movement was an imposition on my joy and active lifestyle. Many years of spiritual study and prayerfully relying on God as Physician didn't seem to "work" in this case.

Instead of replacing limiting, body-based thoughts with the truth of God's all-encompassing care for me, I grew used to the thoughts and found ways to compensate for the painful movement. Soon, going about normal household chores could bring me to tears without warning.

Eventually, I decided to consult a doctor. An X-ray was taken, and nothing was found to be physically wrong. He recommended a shot to ease the pain, which I agreed to, followed by physical therapy. Many times in the past, my family and I had trusted God to be there for healing, guidance, pretty much everything. But in this case, I'd just temporarily thought the solution and healing lay elsewhere.
