ANYONE CAN BE A HEALER

I LOVE WHAT I DO

As a child, I always wanted to help other people be happy and comfortable when I grew up. I imagined becoming a nurse or a flight attendant—perhaps because I wasn't happy and looked to others for my joy. Little did I know that Christian Science would be my answer. And looking back, I can now see God's plan for good in my life. It was there even when I wasn't aware of it.

I got married right out of high school, sure that I'd found my Prince Charming. I became pregnant right away and, looking for some stability, briefly attended Sunday School at the Christian Science church where my grandmother was a member. After that, I still called myself a Christian Scientist, without knowing what that meant.

Later as a stay-at-home mom, married for the second time, I felt desperate. My present marriage was failing. There didn't appear to be any real solution. Still, I felt there had to be an answer. That hope took hold, and as it did, everything changed. Soon afterward, I talked to a painter I'd hired to do a one-day job. He startled me by saying, "God has a perfect plan for you." It was as thought a light came on. I saw right then that if that were true, I was ready to find out what His plan was. My own plans to find happiness in a marriage partner and a wonderful father for my children had all ended in disappointment.
