HEALED OF SEVERE SORE THROAT SYMPTOMS

In February 2008, I was preparing for two major singing auditions for graduate school programs. Several days before the first audition, I woke up with a sore throat and had difficulty swallowing. I went to the Christian Science Organization testimony meeting that morning at the college where I was teaching, and heard this quote from Science and Health: "Eternity, not time, expresses the thought of Life, and time is no part of eternity. One ceases in proportion as the other is recognized. Time is finite; eternity is forever infinite" (pp. 468–469).

This quote got me thinking more deeply about the concept of time. I was concerned that my voice would not be healed before the audition, but I knew I could rely on prayer for healing. Later, I began to prayerfully consider, "What does it really mean to live in eternity?" And the answer came: "It means I don't have four days for the healing to take place; I have eternity—which means now—not in a mortal-time sense, but within the state of being ever present with God, where 'time' is not a factor. There's no sense of pressure that the healing won't take place at the right time. In this eternal now, I'm living in the harmony of Love."

I prayed with these ideas, and during the drive to the audition, I sought, and felt, a real spiritual connection to God, knowing that this was what it felt like to be living in eternity with God. The next morning—the day of the audition—my throat was completely clear, and I sang with no problem.
