PAIN IN KNEE HEALED

One November several years ago, I started noticing some pain in my right knee. At first, I brushed it aside. But after a while the pain appeared more and more often and the thought kept coming to me: You're in your middle 40s, and this is a problem that comes with age. I'd been hearing some friends talk about problems with joints that don't function smoothly anymore, especially when people do a lot of sports (jogging, skiing, playing tennis, etc.)

Because I've known Christian Science for a long time, I rejected this. I'd learned that such theories and thoughts don't have legitimacy, because they don't come from God. I also understood that pain has to do with one's thinking, and I only wanted to embrace thoughts that I knew came from God. But it was obviously not enough just to think about this off and on. So when the pain occurred more often, I asked a Christian Science practitioner to help me through prayer. After that, the pain disappeared. I was very grateful, but I sensed that the problem had not yet been totally solved.

The following January, as I was getting ready to go to a town swimming pool with my children, I twisted my knee and suddenly wasn't able to walk without intense pain. I thought maybe it would get better while I was swimming, and we went on our way. But the pain did not stop, and I was limping.
