A COMPLETE HEALING

Mary Baker Eddy wrote that "the miracles recorded in the Bible, which had before seemed to me supernatural, grew divinely natural and apprehensible; though uninspired interpreters ignorantly pronounce Christ's healing miraculous, instead of seeing therein the operation of the divine law" (Retrospection and Introspection, p. 26). I've been grateful over the years to realize and experience just how truly natural spiritual healing is.

Last year I felt "the operation of the divine law" in a particularly beautiful way. For about two weeks I hadn't been able to assimilate food and was losing weight. Although I'd been praying and studying, the condition wasn't improving; I was uncomfortable and growing very weak.

But I kept praying, particularly with a statement from page 391 in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures: "Justice is the moral signification of law. Injustice declares the absence of law. When the body is supposed to say, 'I am sick,' never plead guilty" (Mary Baker Eddy). And further on the same page: "Mentally contradict every complaint from the body, and rise to the true consciousness of Life as Love,—as all that is pure, and bearing the fruits of Spirit." I was also encouraged by studying Jesus' Sermon on the Mount in the Bible, line by line.
