SEVERE HEADACHE HEALED ON A ROAD TRIP

I'd like to share one of the many healings I've experienced over the past 30 years; this happened a few years ago. I was on my way to Houston, Texas, with a fellow truck driver (we are team drivers for a national carrier). We were on a run that took us to Houston and back to Chicago, then to Phoenix and back in one week, then to Sacramento and back the next week.

Our task was to get to our destinations on time for the customers' sake. My fellow driver started the drive for the first ten hours, then I picked up the next ten hours, then we switched. When it was my turn to drive one time, I felt a headache coming on. It was the kind of headache that seemed to get worse and worse, upsetting my stomach and making me feel very weak and nauseous. Well, I had to pull over to the shoulder of the road, soon after I'd started to drive. The other driver asked what was wrong. So I told him what the problem was, and he asked if he could help in any way. We agreed that he would drive, and I would go back in the sleeper compartment and pray for healing. I carry my Science and Health and the Bible with me and read the Christian Science Bible Lesson every day.

I was having a hard time confronting the pain and nausea, and the mental suggestion came that maybe I should try to wait it out. But I knew that would delay our trip and cause problems for everyone. Then, something told me to turn to page 475 in Science and Health where I read: "Man is spiritual and perfect; and because he is spiritual and perfect, he must be so understood in Christian Science. Man is idea, the image, of Love; he is not physique" (p. 475). Here's what I was thinking after I read that sentence. Because "man is idea, the image, of Love; he is not physique," how could I, as God's idea, feel pain? I recognized that my body had no power of its own to complain, so I knew it was an error, or a mistaken belief, that was trying to convince me I was suffering. God had never made anything unlike Himself. There couldn't be any power contrary to divine Love. And so love was all I could feel.
