September song
Back to school.
To a lot of people, it's a sort of seasonal punctuation mark, a symbolic end to summer's longer, warmer days and quieter, less-congested streets. For some, it's merely a cliche, just another excuse for the stores to ring up sales.
But for many of us, this is a pivotal point in the calendar year. It's the season when students of all ages progressively extend their worlds beyond the old borders. The entire rhythm of family life beats again to the dictates of classroom schedules and extracurricular activities.
