Learning to stand still for God
Recently Sentinel Radio's Rita Polatin spoke with KAREN GOULD, a schoolteacher from Derbyshire, England. Karen has taught in a number of inner-city schools. Deeply dedicated to her work, she loves her work and her students. She's convinced that moment-by-moment prayer to see herself and each student together in God's presence has brought the joy and success she's felt and seen in the classroom. The following is an adaptation of that interview.
What prompted you to become a teacher in the first place?
Well, it goes back a long way. Around the age of seven, I'd started lessons on the recorder. At the same time, my class in school was given free rein to do a project about any topic. I chose Beethoven.
