TIME AND AGAIN, the Olympic Games have marked a significant turning point for the host country.
Now China has had its turn. Did it make the most of its Olympic moment?
In many ways, it's too soon to tell. China's immense energy and its eagerness to turn a welcoming face to visitors certainly attracted positive notice. China won praise for the efficiency with which it charged ahead to build new stadiums and subway lines as well as a vast new airport terminal. But not everyone welcomed the intense security measures adopted as the Olympic Games approached.
