I FELL OFF THE BOAT

Channing ("Cha Cha")

One time I went sailing with my friends and family. We went out to the Channel Islands off the coast of Southern California. In a cove, on the tip of Santa Rosa Island, we dropped anchor and jumped into the water.

I was having a blast swimming near the boat with my dad. While I was trying to get up onto the back of the boat, my foot slipped off and I fell back into the water. The skipper's wife heard the splash and helped me up. I had a bruise on my hip and a cut on my knee.

My dad and I started praying. We said the Lord's Prayer out loud. What helped me especially was the part that says, "Thy will be done." I thought about how God's will for me was good and that His work was already done. And it was complete. God knew me only as His spiritual reflection, and His will for me was to be whole, without any blemish or hurt.
