SO UP TO DATE!

I would like to extend my thanks to all of the people who work hard at keeping the topics of the Sentinel so up to date. I just listened to a talk about the "lurking evil" of despotism in America and was a little shaken up. Then, as I got quiet and prayed about it, the thought came to open up that week's Sentinel and see what it was all about. How absolutely perfect it was to see the cover: "Lurking evil or underling good?" [December 3, 2007].

The title alone broke the hypnotism that was trying to bring my thought into a state of fear and worry about our nation. Then . . . the articles! What a masterpiece of Mind flowing through them all. Thank you for breaking the spell.

KINSHIP WITH ALL LIFE

What a delight to read Anna Farkas's sweet "For Teens" article, in which she tells about her loving relationship with her snake, Aochan, in the December 3 Sentinel. Anna realized that "snakes . . . express spiritual qualities as God's creations." She clearly saw her "snake as an expression of God's loving nature."

Oh that adults would be as willing to embrace all the creature expressions of Life (snakes, spiders, seals, sheep) without fear or prejudice. Anna's mother did just that. Her sincere prayers changed her own fearful thought and led her to "now look at snakes with appreciaton and kinship." Our existence is immensely enriched by our kinship with life.

WORTH SHARING

In the December 3 Sentinel, I loved how Anna Farkas's mom worked out her fear of snakes. She and I were both members of a Christian Science church in Freeport, Long Island.

On page 12 of that same issue, a police officer, Mike Laggart, Writes a most inspiring account of his protection while on patrol. My nephew is a policeman in New York City. When I shared it with him, he said, "Wow!" He's going to share it with his coworkers.

PREPARING THE WAY

Waking in the middle of the night, and recognizing that sleep was an unlikely option, I began reading the December 17 issue, themed "The advent of Jesus." In Tony Lobl's article, "Christ's eternal dawn," he so clearly assures readers of the ever-present, timeless message of healing salvation that we name Christ. He begins with Moses' witness of the burning, yet enduring, bush, which vividly illustrated the brightest light possible in that age, and which gave Moses the courage to lead one of history's most profound exoduses of a people from bondage.

Then Mr. Lobl presents the arrival of the Messiah, Christ Jesus, who with his brilliant healing and teaching showed those present in that age liberating freedom from any type of human bondage, any type of sin, any type of sickness, even from death.

Building on these supreme examples, he brings us to the present age with the unparalleled written exposition of Christ's message, or the Comforter promised by Christ Jesus —Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. By understanding something of the powerful, healing light presented in Science and Health, Mr. Lobl was healed. And so am I.

In the recent season of gratitude, Hanukkah, and Christmastime, it has been so liberating to have some practical sense of this enduring Christ-message. You folks at the Publishing Society give us marvelous weekly and monthly expressions of this message. For the message itself, and for your inspired presentation of it, I am deeply and sincerely grateful.
