MOTHER CHURCH MEMBERSHIP—7 MEMBERS TELL THEIR STORIES

BY SHEILA MARY COOK
Fareham, Hampshire, England

I was first introduced to Christian Science 40 years ago when I married my husband, a Christian Scientist. I'd been raised in another faith, and was a medical nurse until I retired six years ago.

Christian Science hadn't interested me much until my husband passed away suddenly about a year and a half ago. I felt lonely, full of fear and grief. In an effort to try some new things on my own, I joined several community organizations, but wasn't feeling a deep level of connection. Then I thought about how much Christian Science had meant to my husband over the years. It came to me to find a local Church of Christ, Scientist, and learn how to pray. I began to attend Wednesday testimony meetings, and was made very welcome by the members. I felt completely surrounded by love. Soon I began to regularly attend both Wednesday and Sunday services.
