CHAMPIONS OF FAITH

SEVERAL TIMES in recent years we've focused on professional sportsmen and sportswomen whose faith has played a key role in their careers—and contributed to their success.

International cricketers have spoken with us, among them South Africans Shaun and Peter Pollock, and West Indian Conrad Hunte. We devoted a column to British soccer players, including Marvin Andrews who told how he was cured of a painful lower abdominal injury through prayer alone.

Now, well timed for the 2007 season, comes a new DVD, Champions of Faith: Baseball. This 60-minute documentary sets out to "humanize some of the most celebrated and accomplished ballplayers of our time and restore the sports hero to [his or her] proper place in the American culture."
