All ready, all set

Have you ever seen kids at a pool or a beach squirming and pulling away from their parents? They just can't wait to get going and jump right into the water.

I've often wondered why grown-ups feel so much pressure to prepare for things—a presentation at work, a trip. And maybe, especially, to feel prepared to pray. Spending quiet time turning to God is beneficial, but is it all really just about sitting down with uninterrupted time? Often that scenario proves elusive—the morning alarm goes off a bit late, or we need to surrender some alone time to help a friend.

Maybe those kids have the right idea. Maybe it's not a matter of time. As Earline Shoemake points out in our first article: "We have all from the Father-Mother God now, including the ability to pray and the understanding of how to do it. . . . Right now, you're prepared to turn quietly to God. Start there, and you'll find exactly what you need."
