SAFE in cyberspace
in cyberspace
PARENTS FEAR for their children's welfare in a lot of ways. They wonder what age is appropriate to let their kids walk to school alone, run down to the neighbor's house, use a public restroom unattended, shop at the mall with a friend, or take that school trip.
As if that's not enough, today's parents also have to become engaged in a totally new environment that has become the informational focal point for the rising generation: the Internet. This virtual world is as natural to most kids as the air they breathe. While it's provided unimaginable freedoms, shrinking world boundaries, and fingertip access to information and communication tools, the World Wide Web has also created invisible threats such as "Internet thieves," "cyberbullies," and "Internet predators."
