When reading a testimony of healing by a person confronted with an emergency, I've sometimes found myself thinking, "I'm sure glad it wasn't me in that situation." Yet a few years ago, I did experience just such a situation.

I was driving down a highway when suddenly I started feeling queasy. Within a short time, the queasiness turned into feeling downright ill, and I seemed on the brink of losing consciousness. I could feel that something wasn't right with my heart.

I pulled my car over and immediately started to pray. As a Christian Scientist, I was used to turning to God in any difficulty, and I'd been healed through prayer before. For example, there had been an instance when I struck my head forcefully on a big pipe and was almost incapacitated—I could move only with great difficulty. I was healed within a few days through prayer in Christian Science, which greatly boosted my confidence in God's healing power. Likewise, I had the same basic sense that God would not let me down.
