AN UNEXPECTED HEALING
Several years ago, when I was living outside New York City, I was traveling on a train going into Manhattan, to audition for summer stock theater. This particular theater company performed different shows each week.
During this period in my life, I had been longing to know God and to learn more about Christ Jesus' teachings. I would often wonder what these teachings had to do with me. How did they apply specifically to my life as a dancer and performer? You could say that my heart's desire was to learn more about my own spiritual identity.
On the train that day, I remember having a distinct thought: "I just wish I could stop smoking. But how do I stop?" This thought came powerfully and caught me by surprise, because I'd never seen my choice to smoke as a problem. Even though I was impressed by the clarity of this thought, I brushed it aside at the time, to concentrate on mentally preparing for my upcoming audition.
