SAFE AFTER A FALL
Early one morning as I hastily picked up my cat, Morrisa, I lost my footing and fell crashing to the floor. I landed hard on my knees and face, and on Morrisa, too. She slid out from under me and skidded across the floor. My knees and nose were hurting badly, and I thought I might have broken my nose, but I was glad to see that Morrisa seemed to be moving about normally.
I was able to get back into bed, where I decided I had a choice: I could mull over this fall and its possible effects, or focus in prayer on my spiritual identity. I have successfully relied on prayer in Christian Science for healing for over 60 years, so I naturally and immediately turned to God, and I included Morrisa in my prayers as well.
I began by declaring the fact of my inseparability from God and His loving care. Christian Science teaches that God's creation is entirely spiritual and good, that there can be no accidents in His kingdom, and that each of us is the perfect reflection of God.
