'I NEEDED TO HAVE MY EYES OPENED'
One Friday last fall I parked our utility trailer beside the house. I had positioned the trailer wheels against some rocks to keep it from rolling, but as I walked to the back of the car to unhitch the trailer, it started to roll backward over the rocks, squeezing me between the house and the car. I tried to stop the car, but to no avail.
My first thought was "God is my Life." I was concerned I might be crushed, and this statement reassured me that my life could not be taken from me. My wife, who was helping me park the trailer, was able to free me.
I found I could not stand or walk by myself, and I was in great pain. I have always relied on Christian Science for healing with excellent results, so my wife called a Christian Science practitioner to support us in our prayers. She was very caring and compassionate, assuring me that all was well in God's eyes. From our conversation, I realized my prayers needed to be an affirmation that I was already perfect; that I was not trying to make a damaged body whole, but rather to understand that I was, and always had been, the perfect image and likeness of God. This uplifted my thought and eliminated the fear.
