THROUGH A SPIRITUAL LENS

'WALK IN THE LIGHT'

Early winter in Maine. The subtly angled sunlight and striking perspectives encourage me to keep a camera in the car. I love to walk down where the sand is wet and firm, and waves quickly wash the imprints away. Each time, I walk anew, refreshed by sea breezes.

On the day I took this picture, my wife and I were out for a drive along a peninsula beach. The deepening sky held a single star. The patch of snow in the foreground and the backlit sea identified the season. We paused in amazement.

My wife walked on ahead while I looked for the additional element needed to give significance to the image in my viewfinder. Suddenly, there it was!—a person, who happened to be my wife, walking in reflected light, and looking even more radiant.
