Thank you, God
All over the United States this week people celebrate Thanksgiving Day. It's a special day of thanks to God for all the good in their lives. Here you can read what some kids told the Sentinel they are thankful for. All of them attend Sunday School at First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Austin, TX.
When my dog, Vincent, hurt his leg, I prayed for him. I knew God saw Vincent's as being perfect. About an hour later, Vincent's leg was all better. I was very thankful.
—Megan
God protected me when I was snow tubing. Someone was coming down the steep hill very, very fast behind me and hit me so hard I flew out of the tube and my boots flew off. But I was not hurt. Thank you, God.
—Max
I enjoy Sunday School because my teacher makes learning fun. I'm grateful for Church, because I enjoy learning new things with other people and learning new ways to pray about problems and situations.
—Claire
My friend Jessica was mean to me. I prayed, and now we're friends.
—Melsy
I love learning about Christian Science. It's good because instead of waiting before you are healed and can go back to school, you can expect to have a healing right away.
—Jessica
I hit my head on the trampoline and it started bleeding. When I went inside, my mom told me, "You are all right," and she started washing my hair out in the sink. I knew I was OK because God cares for me, and I stopped being afraid. The bleeding stopped right away. And I felt great. I'm so grateful that God is my Father-Mother and is always with me.
—Emily
We have awesome Sunday School teachers. They help me feel more confident. They really help me understand God. One time I stubbed two toes on my refrigerator. The first thing I thought was that no one could be hurt in God's kingdom. The pain went away.
—Skyler
Happy Thanksgiving!
I sprained my foot. I kept thinking I was God's child, and so I could not be hurt. Soon I was healed.
—Brian
I had an earache. It hurt really bad. But it got better soon because I prayed with my mommy and Uncle Arno. Then it was all gone the next morning.
—Kelsey
We were on our way to church, and two of my sisters were being mean to my other sister, but I wasn't. That's the way I "stood porter." [Science and Health says, "Stand porter at the door of thought" p. 392.]
—Andrew
I was riding a horse named Sandpiper, and he rammed me into the fence. My knee really hurt. I prayed that God keeps me safe, and about five minutes later I was fine. I was grateful.
—Taylor
I like to read the Bible and Science and Health to learn about God. I also like being with friends and learning with them. It's helping me think about other people and not be selfish, or self-centered. I just love knowing God is always there.
—Jennifer
