Know your real self

There's a recording I've listened to over the years that was produced by The Christian Science Publishing Society in 1979, titled "Image of His love." It includes several articles on the subject of spiritual identity from the Sentinel and its sister publication The Christian Science Journal. Thinking about our issue this week, I'm reminded of a particular statement from one article.

The writer, Arthur P. Wuth, said this: "Through learning that individuality is to be found only in God and is to be expressed by His creation, the unfoldment of what we are and who we are, why we are and where we are, becomes clear to us. Then we can answer those questions according to the truths found in the Bible and in the Christian Science textbook."

That's a basic summary of what takes place when anyone becomes more aware that the one true way to find yourself—your true self—is to find God. And in the same way that people's search to find themselves is ongoing, so, too, is the effort to explore the countless facets of spiritual identity over the weeks and months in the pages of the Sentinel. When you get right down to it, Christian healing and regeneration rest on the central fact that we exist to express our Creator individually, completely, and eternally.
