Don't forget to smell the flowers
"Aren't you having dinner tonight?" I asked my husband recently. "Not enough time," was his response. "I'll pick up something quick later."
Sound familiar?
Because of work demands, scheduling conflicts, and kids' extracurricular activities, two out of three American families on any given night of the week don't sit down to eat dinner together anymore. It's a far cry from what I remember as a child growing up in a small town in Germany. After a very busy day, at 6 p.m. Sharp my dad would turn the key to lock up our grocery store on the first floor of our house, and a few minutes later he'd be upstairs with the whole family gathered around the dining table for supper.
