Some observations on campus life from a Christian Scientist who is a graduating divinity student at Andover Newton Theological School in Massachusetts.

LETTING THEIR LIGHT SHINE

TWO WOMEN, one from a wealthy family in suburbia and the other native to a working-class urban neighborhood, meet for the first time. Within a week they sit across from each other, holding hands in prayer for reconciliation among a divided group of friends.

AN ARTICULATE STUDENT leads a vibrant, deeply insightful discussion group on the topic of whether the Ten Commandments should be on display in a state courthouse. The group includes a conservative Christian, a member of a mainline Protestant denomination, two Catholics, a Buddhist, two or three Jews, and a number of members who do not identify with a particular faith and are deeply engaged in the issue.

"HALLELUJAH! God is good!" proclaims a young woman in a phone message to a friend. She has received an offer of employment in her field of choice after feeling exceedingly discouraged about her prospects.
