Why I am a Christian Science nurse
By Heather Worley
Brookline, Massachusetts
I had been teaching Spanish to seventh and eighth graders for about a year and a half, and was at a point where I was ready for a change. I loved teaching, so the change I was thinking about was to start looking for a school that would be a better fit for me, so I began to pray about my purpose and career.
During the summer, I worked as a counselor at a Christian Science camp. One day we heard a talk by a Christian Science practitioner, and the ideas I heard about filling our niche in the world fed my prayers. Later that summer, on a trip away from camp, a camper was injured and needed immediate care. The spiritual ideas I needed, and their practical application, were right there for me, enabling me to care for her needs.
