SPIRITUAL HEALING PROJECT goes to school

Following their visit with Sentinel editors in Boston (see the July 19-26 issue, "The rise of spiritual healing," pages 8–13, or go to www.cssentinel.com), spiritual healing researchers Bobbie McKay and her husband, Lewis Musil, returned home to prepare to teach a one-week course called "Spirituality and Healing" at the Chicago Theological Seminary. We asked Dr. McKay to let us know how the course went, and here's her account of what one seminarian called "a life-changing experience."

On leaving Boston after our wonderful visit with new and old friends at The Mother Church, we were filled with new knowledge and wonderful images of the Christian Science Church and The Mary Baker Eddy Library. We had about two weeks to get ready to teach our first seminary class at Chicago Theological. It seemed like a manageable job, although we had to admit that our schedule looked a bit daunting.

This class was billed as an intensive summer school course. Intense was certainly the right word. It met for one week, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and counted for a full semester of academic credit. Our job was to introduce the mystery and wonder of our Spiritual Healing Project to any who chose (or felt called) to join us.
