'God is not in the drama'
One morning several months ago, I had a wonderful healing that further strengthened my faith in God and my understanding of His care for each one of us. I'd taken quite a bit of time to study the Weekly Bible Lesson from the Christian Science Quarterly and then to pray quietly to really take in its healing message.
The Lesson's passages from the Bible and from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy spoke about God's power as present and universal, and about His love for all of His children. I felt very close to God as I read. I remember feeling particularly buoyed and inspired.
Soon I had the opportunity to put my study into practice, when I walked into the kitchen and tripped and banged my toe into the cupboard with a great deal of force. I remember crying out in pain. But right on the heels of that cry came an "angel" message—a good thought from God: "God is not in the drama." This immediately calmed me, as I realized that I didn't need to feel like the helpless victim of an accident.
