Pressing on to Peace

'Breakthrough In Israeli-Palestinian relations heralds a lasting peace." Suppose you saw those words splashed on page one of The New York Times or flashed on a screen tuned to CNN Headline News—would you believe it? Would skepticism, even cynicism, tinge your feelings of elation at such a historic announcement?

No, it doesn't appear at this writing that the world is anywhere close to realizing that headline. In fact, what prompted the focus article this week, written by our new News & Special Projects Editor, Rosalie Dunbar, was sobering talk of an absolute deadlock in negotiations—a growing inability on the part of all parties even to communicate.

The question arises, Can we afford to make the claim that more prayer is worthwhile to improve this intractable situation? The answer follows, We can't afford NOT to. And it's in that spirit—fully aware of the magnitude of the challenge—that we further ask ourselves, in the words of the Sentinel's founder, "What cannot God do?"
