Healed of addiction and heart condition

I am very happy to say that, thanks to what Christian Science has taught me, I have had many physical healings through prayer. Also, I have resolved financial, family, and relationship problems.

One of the healings for which I am most grateful was of the smoking habit. I smoked ever since I was a teenager. At that time, young men who were trying to prove that they were macho considered cigarettes a very positive thing. This addiction lasted for many years.

When I was a child, I attended a Christian Science Sunday School, but when we moved to a more distant neighborhood, I stopped going. Many years later, I went back to church. That's when, as I studied Christian Science, I learned that addiction to something harmful has nothing to do with God's children, who are created in His likeness—that addiction was no part of my spiritual identity. I decided to stop smoking, and asked a Christian Science practitioner to pray with me for the freedom to do this. It was not a very quick healing, but it occurred the way I really wanted it to happen—that is, my desire to smoke just stopped. When this happened, I felt enormous freedom.
