Afraid to travel abroad?

Two American tour hosts share some of their experiences in and around the Middle East

'You're going on a trip where? Isn't it dangerous?" This has been a typical response when people have heard about my plans for the 15 Biblical tours I've co-hosted with Olene Carroll to Israel, Jordan, Greece, Turkey, and Egypt since 1995.

My response to such inquirers is often, "Well, it depends on what your purpose is. I believe that if one's purpose is good, one can expect to travel 'under the shadow of the Almighty'" (Ps. 91:1).

In praying before conducting a tour to clarify my own spiritual purpose for going, I've loved this reassurance from Science and Health: "Spirit, God, gathers unformed thoughts into their proper channels, and unfolds these thoughts even as He opens the petals of a holy purpose in order that the purpose may appear" (p. 506).
