Permanently healed of recurring intestinal trouble
Originally published in Der Christian Science Herold
When my wife began to study Christian Science, she accepted it from the first moment on. It was the truth she had been looking for. But I was not immediately ready to agree with what it taught about spiritual healing.
Some years before, I had had an intestinal problem that required an operation. To all appearances the surgery had gone well. But later the same symptoms showed up, in a worse form. The little understanding that my wife had of Christian Science was, in my opinion, not sufficient for her to help me heal this condition through prayer.
We lived in what was at that time East Germany, where it was difficult to study this religion because its practice was outlawed. So up until then I hadn't examined this Science of Mind seriously. I went to a doctor, who got me into a clinic. Immediately I was operated on for a blocked intestine. This was a difficult operation. At that point I began wishing to become more involved with God.
