A mother's prayer brings comfort and healing
Originally published in O Arauto da Christian Science
After the birth of my first son, I had two miscarriages. The second one resulted in the surgical removal of one of the fallopian tubes. Because of this, the doctors told me, it would be practically impossible for me to get pregnant again.
On that day, at the same hospital, my cousin gave birth to a child. Every time I saw her I would grieve because of what had happened to me, and because I had lost hope about having another child—something I dearly wanted.
Then I started to pray so that God would take away my sadness. And it occurred to me that if my cousin was happy, I could be happy, too, because God doesn't deny happiness to anyone.
