Want to be a star athlete?
If you were a college coach or an NFL recruiter, and you heard about someone who could pass through angry mobs without interference; who could get through blocks as opaque and unyielding as a wall; and whose 40-yard sprint time was zero seconds—wouldn't you be interested in having this guy on your team? I can just see the headlines: "Rams' first-pick: Jesus."
Whether you're a football player, a recreational roller-blader, or a cross-country ski racer like me, there are useful lessons to be learned from Jesus' approach. He overcame what all athletes work arduously to overcome: the limits of space and time. So what was his secret?
Olive trees and mustard seeds? A special diet that enhanced his muscle development and recovery? Massage therapy that helped him recoup after a long day of healing crippled folks and sinners? Nope, I've got it: All those times he went "up into a mountain" must have made his leg muscles huge. He would have torn a Stair-Master machine to pieces.
