COMPENSATION UNDELAYED
On September 19, 2003, the California Victim Compensation and Government Claims Board voted to award Rick Walker the statutory $100 per day for every day he was wrongly imprisoned. Two days later, Gov. Gray Davis signed a bill that authorized payment of Walker's claim. According to legal experts, the compensation process usually takes at least two years from application to payment. In Rick Walker's case it took only three months.
