'I FEEL COMFORT AND INNER PEACE'

I DECIDED TO MOVE to Las Vegas in 1992, and held various jobs there in telephone customer service and real estate. Also I held different positions in a casino—security, surveillance. Working heavily for about three years in the casino environment and on the casino floor, I found that being involved with gambling was something that I was doing to try to fill a void of loneliness, and to find recreation and excitement. I knew it was not beneficial to my health or my finances, so I decided to look for a way out. I knew there was something better out there. That's really what led me to Christian Science.

I began going daily to a local Christian Science Reading Room, and I started talking to the Reading Room staff. I got a copy of Science and Health, which I began to read very intensely, from cover to cover. I felt there was still a void, and I needed to find some kind of peace and solace, to go beyond what I had been doing, because I wasn't really getting true fulfillment.

When you're in Vegas, you're surrounded by advertisements on television and radio, people winning jackpots and how easy it is to get free dinners and free rooms by gambling, and it's really hard to break that spell if you don't have something to work with. So I just kept reading Science and Health.
